Being an Indian is a pride to me because……

Being an Indian is a pride to me because……

You may have seen too many nations with immense richness, enormously developed and nations with people leading extra ordinary luxurious lives, but you can’t see another down- to- earth country with ever rich culture, enthusiastic people, ‘hair raising’ diversity and thousands of languages and customs like India. Being a country which is sovereign, independent and secular, it is also peculiar as its unity is superior. Though people living here are belonging to different religions, they have single identity both in word and sprit, that is an ‘INDIAN’.

Many say, if anybody ask you” Who are you? ”, Your personality glitters, if you reply “I am an Indian” at first and it is the first step of personality development. How mighty this admiring conversation is!

Say proudly, “I am an Indian”. Feel lucky! We are the Indians who have taught the world how to count. Einstein said, “Where the science ends, Indian philosophy begins”. With the golden minded people, India is the world’s largest consumer of gold. No words can describe the technical minds of the Indians. Through Chandrayana-1 India became one of the five countries to send a mission to moon.

I am thankful to God that Narendra took birth in India, but Mother India made him Swami Vivekananda. I thank almighty, that Mohandas and Subhash born in India but I am grateful to Goddess India for making them Mahatma and Netaji. I am delightful that, god made Srinivas Ramanujan, Sir M Vishweshwarayya, Dr. H. J. Baba etc to take birth in Indian soil, but I am proud of my motherland which gave them such an incredible intelligence. Can we see anywhere an astronomer of ancient times, who is as perfect as Aryabhata? Can we find a more healthier exercise than Yoga? Is there any language more perfect than Sanskrit in the world? Can we name a mathematician who is more brilliant than Ramanujan? If you can expect a systematic town planning in ancient times itself, that is only in India in Sindhu Vally civilization.

Vishnu Purana said ‘The country that lies north of the ocean and south of the snowy mountains is called Bharatha”. In the view of weather, don’t you feel India is very lucky? A magnificient weather with summer, winter and rainy seasons in almost balanced proportion. Who can meet the highness of our culture, scriptures and heaps and heaps of natural resources? Rivers are found frequently all over the country. Our motherland  is the birth place of Vedas, Upanishads, two great epics Ramayana and Mahabharatha and many Puranas. Legendary poets like Kalidasa, Bhasa etc lived here. How can’t we proud of this holy land then?

India has never ran away in the battle field. Its heroism is spectacular! Intelligent statesmen like Chanakya, heroes like Samudragupta, Shivaji, Rajendra Chola and heroines like Jhani Rani Lakshmi Bai, Kittur Chennamma were all born here. Having  the world’s second largest army, that had never lost a single battle against Pakistan, and fought bravely against China though defeated, India is a completely secured nation. India is having one of the wonders of this planet, Taj Mahal with hundreads of monuments like Qutub-Minar, temples at Madurai, Belur, Hampi, Puri, Kedar etc. which are also wonders.

In the field of science and technology, we are the leaders even from ancient days. Our Vedas, the greatest knowledge bank, has told earth is round, Aryabhata discovered earth rotates, Boudhayana Sutra cleared the concept of right angled triangles, Ramayana gives hint of aerodynamics through Pushpaka Vimana and so on. Ayurveda, a concept of Atharvaveda, deals with healthcare so efficiently. It is our proud medical science. Sushruta is the world’s first  doctor to conduct plastic surgery successfully. In modern times also, India contributed a lot in the field of science and technology. ‘Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman, a Nobel Prize winner, Dr. J.C. Bose’s demonstration of the possibility of radio communications etc led to the gorgeous development in the field of  science and technology. The recently discovered God Particle  ‘Higgs Boson’, contains the name of the  proud Indian scientist Satyendranath Bose as an honour to his hard work in discovering it. In the field of space technology, ISRO’s footmark is significant. It has fabricated wide varieties of satellites and launching vehicles. India has seen outstanding scientists like Vikram Sarabhai, U.R.Rao, Dr. Kalam etc in this field. Testing of nuclear bombs by Pokran 1 & 2 is an achievement of India.

India is the birth place of hundreds of  heroic games like Kabbadi, Hockey, Kho-Kho, wrestling etc  and intelligent games like chess. India has produced many legendary sportsmen like Dhyanchand, Sachin, Vishwanathan Anand etc.

Missle man Dr. Kalam said in his ‘Song of Youth’
As the young citizens of India,
Armed with technology, knowledge and love for my nation,
I realize, small aim is a crime.
He continues in its last stanza –
‘I will keep the lamp of knowledge burning
To achieve the vision-developed India’

Let us follow his poem. Let us aim at making our country a developed one. Let us follow ‘Each one Teach one’ principle, Let us utilize our god given gift of intelligence and strive hard for the prosperity of our beloved nation. Let us preserve our independence forever.
Happy Independence Day……
Jai Hind!

  1. Some thoughts:

    * India is a leader in science, but not technology
    * I could not find source for the Einstein's quote "Where the science ends, Indian philosophy begins". Please include source.
    * I am yet to meet someone who says "I am an Indian", when I ask "Who are you?"
    * Not "hips and hips of natural resources", make it heaps.
